Career Woman Blues |
She was a career woman, with a parchment in her hand She was a red hot mama with a boyfriend in a band She went down to the town she let it all hang down Her life was free and easy. But her momma said, "When are you gonna get wed, Get a house in the country get a man in your bed, Who can pay your bills, who can give you thrills. Oh, when you gonna make me a Grandma?" So she batted her eye at a good lookin' guy who went by the name of Walter. He smiled oh so sweet, knocked her right off her feet and he led her up to the altar. Each morning at eight he went out the gate and he headed for the railroad station. She sat all alone in her fat country home and she pondered her sad situation. Then she thought, "Here am I with a very nice guy who's got pretty good at kissing. But, hey, wait, life ain't so great, something in here is missing. I am a career woman with a parchment on the wall. But I'm sitting here doing nothing at all. I can pay my bills, I can get my thrills. But I gotta get away from Walter". So she called her ma said, "It's gone too far, I gotta spread my wing; I gotta do my thing, I gotta get out this grave; I got my life to save. I gotta be strong and not falter". She is a career woman, with a parchment in her hand She is a red hot mama with a boyfriend in a band She goes down to the town; she lets it all hang down Her life is free and easy. |
