This page is meant to raise everyones awareness about the subject of Victim Compensation
A number of states already have such a program. Financed from taxes, no doubt. (Yes, I know, I had better check this).
My thoughts are as follows:
Let's revise the Criminal Codes, both Federal and State, to "make the punishment fit the crime". Let's not simply lock away the offender "At Her Majesty's Pleasure", but instead, let's require the guilty party to fully compensate the victim or victims of his crime.

If he stole a car, let him replace it. If he injured someone, let him pay all medical bills and compensate for lose earnings.
How can he do this?

Well, the existant prison system can provide paid work. Whether it is license plates, assembling stuff that is currently made in China, or doing other work, all for a fair and reasonable wage. However, the wage is placed into a fund, out of which the victim receives his compensation.
